Kittens AND Yoga at the Jacksonville Humane Society!

They’re so adorable that you just want to eat them!

I’m so excited to be the sponsor of  Meowmaste – Family Yoga with Kittens at the Jacksonville Humane Society (8464 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL)!

Before moving from South Florida to North Florida, Jacksonville specifically, both my daughter and I volunteered every Sunday at a very small cat shelter. We loved it. We loved helping the kittens and cats – cleaning the cages and the litter boxes, sweeping up, socializing kittens who have a critical age where that has to happen; socializing cats to be more adoptable!

And getting to know the cats. Some are overlooked just because there are so many cats. But when a volunteer can say, “Yes, that cat is sweet, you can hold it, it’s ok for adoption” it means a lot to the shelter owners. And to the cat who finds a forever home.

After moving to Jacksonville, the tradition continued but now with the Jacksonville Humane Society. My daughter is with the itsy bitsy kittens who need bottle-feeding and I’m in the cat and kitten area for those ready for adoption. I help potential adopters hold cats and kittens and see if they’re a good fit for them.

It’s just as enjoyable knowing you’re helping them all find new homes, particularly for an older cat.

Bonita is a grey cat who was so friendly but she was 3 years old. She often got overlooked due to all the kittens in the room. But just last week a family adopted her. I was so happy for her!

My practice as an Anxiety and Sleep specialist moved with me to Jacksonville. Mostly virtual but now it’s time to build another in-person practice as a specialist as well.

When I saw that the opportunity was there to sponsor the kitten yoga event, I jumped at the opportunity! I get to help a fantastic organization AND get the word out about my practice.

And I get to meet people in person and have a little fun. Both my daughter and I have had fun thinking up good and useful freebies for the event – cat shaped sticky note pads, catnip toys, and free coasters with cute cat fabric. We’re both excited to be there!
