Decrease your OCD Tendencies with treatment in Broward county

Transcript

Hi. Dr. Liz here with drlizhypnosis.com and Conversations for Effective Living. Earlier today I did a promo video for my new podcast, Hypnotize Me, which I film upstairs with my big podcasting mic, my professional mic. When I got up here and I saw on the screen the games in the background, I was like, “Oh my God!” I have a touch of OCD. I wouldn’t really call myself OCD, but I definitely like to clean more than most people when my anxiety goes up. I wouldn’t say every day, but when something really stressful is going on, I go into cleaning mode. It’s where I have to stop myself often.

I absolutely like things organized, and my first instinct was to go and organize those games, like, “Oh my God. I can’t let anybody see my house this way. They’re so messy.”

What I did in order to help myself decrease anxiety and my touch of OCD is to not do it. To not do it. That’s right. To tolerate the anxiety around it. To tolerate the uncomfortable feeling around it is the best way that you can help yourself overcome these types of things.

A lot of anxiety treatment is around progressively tolerating the anxiety, little bit by little bit, as much as you can handle at a time to tolerate it until it becomes more and more comfortable. Because if you go and fix it and try to decrease anxiety immediately, then it actually can often make it worse in the long run. I know it’s totally paradoxical, but that is really what the latest research shows and the latest treatment plans. Everything is this progressive exposure to the thing that makes you the most anxious.
Now, I have to go and organize the games now. No, I’m just kidding. Remember there’s free stuff at my website, drlizhypnosis.com, and also you can get free hypnosis over there. Download it. Listen to it. Decrease Fear and Anxiety, that’s the main one right now, so go and get it. Have a great day.
