CATARACT SURGERY PREPARATION HYPNOSIS
Prepare for your Cataract surgery with a hypnosis by Certified Hypnotherapist, Dr. Eizabeth Bonet. Having had early cataracts and cataract surgery myself, I knew I had to help people with a hypnosis file since cataract surgery can be . . . well . . .freaky! You’re not able to just close your eyes and drift away easily like you can with other types of surgery.
I recently asked an anesthesiologist why they can’t just knock you out for eye surgery. She said it’s simple. You have to follow instructions and you can’t do that if you’re completely knocked out.
It was a huge Ah-ha moment for me! So THAT’S WHY!
Unfortunately, it doesn’t make the surgery any easier. What CAN help make it easier is a hypnosis file.
This hypnosis helps reduce anxiety about the upcoming surgery and teaches you the skill of how to stay calm and still during your surgery. You’ll feel better before, during, and after surgery.
Developed in consultation with an opthalmologist, this hypnosis is also *intended to help prevent complications and help you heal faster with less discomfort. (*No medical claims made.)

How to use this hypnosis
Even listening ONE time will help you feel better and prepare for your surgery. If you have the time though, I recommend listening to this particular hypnosis file for 1-2 weeks before your surgery.
For daytime: You can listen to the hypnosis during the day. If you play it during the day, you will be easily able to go about your day at the end of it.
For nighttime: I often recommend that you put the hypnosis on while you fall asleep, face down (so the light does not mess up your sleep patterns), and let the file play. There is a suggestion at the end that if you need to stay asleep, you will sleep well the whole night, only waking up if you need to; otherwise waking up rested and energized for the day ahead.
Part of the script:
“The mind begins to flow down, toward that place of quietness and calm awareness. That direct awareness down, toward it, into it more . . . and more completely, a place of effortless relaxation and letting go . . . It’s so much easier simply to relax and allow events to occur almost by themselves, a drifting down, and a drifting back upward, toward the surface of wakeful awareness at times, and that’s fine. It all belongs to you. Know that you’re well taken care of. The nurses and doctors have all prepared for this with years and years of training in taking the best care of you . . . ”
“Let’s imagine now that you are being prepped for surgery. See yourself relaxing comfortably on the bed. Dilation drops are being put in your eye on a regular schedule and you’re allowing yourself to drift off, away from awareness. See yourself able to easily respond to any questions that are posed to you, reporting on your comfort levels as necessary. But more and more you’re drifting away and beginning to see yourself from above. You’re floating on a beautiful white cloud up above yourself. It’s a fluffy cloud of your childhood, perfectly supportive and so comfortable. If you like, you can give it a beautiful color or sound . . . right now it’s ok to float on your cloud feeling perfectly safe, calm, and relaxed . . .”
“As you’re wheeled into the operating room, you find it easy for your body to remain calm, relaxed, and still and to repeat your comforting phrase in your mind. Imagine yourself now with the doctors, nurses, and assistants all near. Their primary purpose is an easy, smooth surgery. They’re concentrating and you, also, can feel focused and concentrated on this goal, lying very still and with your eye very still, focusing on a single point. Even with one eye open, if you’ve listened to this even once, your ability to drift away or above is enhanced and you’re able to easily do so if you wish to. Float away on your cloud or to your safe place knowing this is a quick and easy surgery and will be over soon, before you even expect it to be. Good. I’m going to pause here as you practice this skill. You can imagine it in your mind . . ”
